FAREWELLS | unknown seas

The first thing found on Alice’s bed, folded neatly but with shaky handwriting, is a note atop a closed—but not sealed—envelope.

To Everyone,

I’m sorry for what I did to Piers. I’m even more sorry for lying to you all. I didn’t tell you what I really am was. I betrayed all of your trust, but please know that I did it only out of self-preservation. It’s safer for everyone if I don’t tell people what I am, but in this case that turned out to be less than true.

I’m not a bad person. I didn’t want to hurt anyone. But I did, and I’m gone now, so there’s not much else I can do except implore you all not to let this happen again.

In this envelope are some papers. I know it’s a lot to ask…but Mira. If you could try to get these to my family, I would be so thankful. Some of them are old, and fragile, but they’re important. I know they would want to have them. If you go to Forks, all you have to do is ask for the Cullens. People will know where to find them.

Please, everyone. Be safe. I’m sorry.

Alice

Inside the envelope are Alice’s asylum admittance papers and her Parsons diploma.

Next to it on the bed is Alice’s orange scarf, with a note that it’s intended to be given to Della.
